Continuing Legal Education

This committee shall oversee the development and execution of the Virgin Islands Bar CLE program to ensure the availability of a wide variety of on-island educational programs for members of the Bar.

CLE Overview

The Continuing Legal Education Committee administers a program established by the Supreme Court of the Virgin Islands which requires attorneys to attend legal education classes each year. All active members must complete 24 hours of continuing legal education every two years. This requirement helps ensure that lawyers keep abreast of the latest legal developments. Please review VISCR 208 for a complete explanation of compliance, deadline, and fees.

The CLE Committee is dedicated to meeting your educational needs!

The department concentrates on providing high-quality seminars on a broad range of topics at a fair and reasonable cost.

CLE courses taken through VIBA will be automatically listed for you under the heading "VIBA CLE".  Please do not duplicate those entries.  If you attend a VIBA event but it does not appear on your tracking page, contact us to have it corrected.
The contribution of volunteers and your strong support as seminar participants make it possible for the us to continue to provide quality and timely continuing legal education.

Instructions for Adding CLE Credits

Every active (regular, special, pro hac vice) member shall be responsible for ascertaining whether or not the particular course satisfies the requirements of Rule 208. Further, this Rule establishes a self-reporting system. Members are responsible for uploading their CLE credits to the website, after which, they are reviewed and approved or denied. Please do not mail or email copies of CLE certificates in absence of submitting them online.
